First impressions are everything. Especially when trying to sell a home. With spring just around the corner, we thought it would be a great time to start talking about curb appeal.
When potential buyers come to your listing, the first thing they see is the outside of the house. This moment could make or break a deal! Explain to your sellers that their goal is for buyers to fall in love with their home at first sight. That means clean windows, good landscaping, and maybe a fresh coat of paint on the front door. The effort will be well worth it!
Check out these great ideas for enhancing the curb appeal of any home. And make sure to pass them on to your sellers!
First things, first – clean your walkway! A simple sweep and power wash can make your walkway go from looking old to new in no time at all.
Display your house number. First, you want buyers to be able to easily find your home when they come to see it. Second, you want them to remember the address as if they already live there. So, show off your house number! If you like the wood plank idea in this photo, check out Family Focus for DIY directions.
Paint your door. A fresh coat of paint can go a long way in making your house seem new and exciting. Go with a color that matches your shutters and exterior, but don’t be afraid to go a little bold!
While you’re at it, give your hardware a new lease on life with a can of spray paint. Brass door handles scream 1995, but a quick coat of black paint will bring out a modern, 2016 look.
If the only place to keep your trash can is out front, camouflage it. A simple screen or bushes will go a long way to hiding that can.
Add some life with potted plants. You don’t need anything fancy, just plain pots with a hearty shrub. You’re local garden center should be able to find you an easy, low-maintenance plant if your thumb tends to be not-do-green.
