Today’s Wellness Wednesday focus: Sun Safety
With summer is full swing, it’s time for a friendly reminder about sun safety. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation over 5.4 million cases of nonmelanoma skin cancer are treated in the U.S. and one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of their lifetime. With that in mind, it is important to protect your skin this summer. Here are a few tips to keep you healthy (and non-burned!):
- Wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect your face and shoulders from the sun.
- Use at least a 15 SPF sunscreen and reapply throughout the day! Children should use at least a 30 SPF.
- Don’t use tanning bed. If you’d like tan skin, go with sprays or lotions instead.
- Stay in the shade as much as possible, especially between 10am and 2pm.
Now go out and have some (safe) fun in the sun!!
