Today’s Wellness Wednesday focus: hiking

Hiking isn’t just a fun walk to take on a Saturday afternoon, it’s also great for your health. The cardiovascular aspect of the sport helps lower your risk of heart disease and high cholesterol, the activity increases muscle strength, and helps with weight control. But it also is good for you mentally and emotionally. Here are just a few reasons why you should add this activity to your weekly schedule:
  • Lower your risk of heart disease
  • Relieve stress
  • Research shows that spending time outside increases your problem-solving skills by up to 50 percent
  • Combat depression
  • Hiking is a full body workout, so everything gets toned
  • Prevent and control diabetes
