Today’s Wellness Wednesday focus: Eye health
We use our eyes everyday, so it is important to make sure we keep them healthy. Staring at a computer screen all day is not a good way to do that, but with our modern world many of us don’t have a choice not to. Here are some tips for keeping your eyes healthy:
- Go to the eye doctor once a year. It’s important to have a baseline to compare to if anything were to suddenly change.
- Eat for good eye health! Make sure you get all of the vitamins and minerals needed to keep your eyes healthy and happy. Here are some great foods to add to your diet:
- Green, leafy vegetables
- Salmon and tuna
- Citrus fruits
- Wear sunglasses and protect your eyes from UV rays. Too much UV exposure makes you more likely to get cataracts and macular degeneration.
- Look away from the computer screen. Too much screen time can cause eye strain, blurry vision, headaches, and dry eyes (just to name a few). Make sure to follow the 20/20/20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
